Rep. Butler Delivers Meals to Local Seniors

     State Representative  Larry B. Butler (D-Waterbury) recently helped deliver meals to homebound older adults in Waterbury.    New Opportunities Meals on Wheels sponsored “Mayors Deliver Meals Day” (March 20th) to provide seniors who are trying to maintain their independence in their own home a healthy meal.

New Opportunities "Buy a Wheel Campaign"

New Opportunities, Inc. announced today the kickoff of its “Buy a Wheel” fundraising campaign that will run through the end of March and directly benefit the Meals On Wheels program serving the Greater Waterbury area. The New Opportunities' Meals On Wheels program is partially funded by the Western Connecticut Area Agency on Aging (WCAAA).

Local Subaru Dealer in "Share the Love" Event

New Opportunities, Inc. (NOI) is proud to announce it has partnered with Chase Parkway Volvo – Subaru this holiday season to promote Meals on Wheels by hosting a “Stuff the Trunk” event from December 10th – 20th, 2012.  Folks are invited to visit the Watertown dealership and donate an item suitable for the homebound. Suggested items include: knit gloves, fleece blankets, heavyweight socks, first aid kits, flashlights, transistor radios w/batteries, a book of stamps and pharmacy gift cards.

New Opportunities Scholarship Winners

New Opportunities, Inc. announced the scholarship winners of their Afro-Latin-Indian Scholarship & Competition.  Formal presentation of the awards took place at the 27th Annual Scholarship Reception on Thursday, July 19th. Since 1985 New Opportunities, Inc. has sponsored this scholarship opportunity for students who live in Waterbury or attend Waterbury schools and has awarded over $680,000 in scholarship aid.

Call on Youth Program for Summer Help

New Opportunities, Inc. is looking for businesses/non-profits in Waterbury and Naugatuck to participate in the 2012 Summer Youth Employment Program. Through the Northwest Regional Workforce Investment Board, NOI will have to place approximately 145 youth in suitable work-stations or sites to provide the youth with a meaningful work experience. Jobs include filing, answering telephones, office assistance, light office cleaning, outdoor maintenance and classroom assistance.
