United Way’s 26th Annual Awards

Sun, 04/22/2012 - 12:40

Dick Dumont accepting the Kellogg Award

Campaign chairmen, Dr. Peter Jacoby and Paul Largay, recapped some of the highlights from this campaign, noting that it was challenging but they brought a creative twist. Jacoby and Largay worked with students from the Waterbury Arts Magnet School to deliver the Mid-Campaign report video in the form of an NFL halftime show and organized a Boys Night Out fundraiser, which raised over $20,000. Dr. Jacoby additionally led a Doctor's Initiative that raised more than $50,000 in new dollars thanks to a total of 95 physicians.
In thanking donors, service providers, media supporters, volunteers and CEOs in attendance, Chad Wable, FACHE, Board of Directors Chair, explained United Way's strength in its simplest form, "It breaks down to people and organizations from all across the community who bring the passion, expertise and resources needed to help get things done."
Videos of the award winners are available on United Way of Greater Waterbury's YouTube channel. Photos from the event will be available on the Facebook page shortly.
