Symphony Summer Picnic & Pops Concert

Fri, 06/29/2012 - 21:36

The Waterbury Symphony Orchestra Welcomes the Community to 24th Annual Summer Picnic and Pops Concert
July 7, 2012 – 6 pm
Woodbury Hollow Park, Woodbury
(Rain Date: July 8 at 6 PM)

Summer is here and what better way to enjoy the outdoors than a picnic in the park combined with live music courtesy of the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra? Leif Bjaland, music director and conductor, shown arriving in style at a recent Summer Pops concert, has put together a program of big band swing selections such as: String of Pearls and In The Mood, along with a number of patriotic favorites, concluding with Stars & Stripes Forever.

The 24th Annual Summer Pops Concert, will be presented on July 7 at 6pm in Woodbury Hollow Park. Gates will open at 4:00 pm. The event is family friendly and FREE to children under 18, with ample free parking.

Patrons are encouraged to bring their children and friends to this wonderful, family-oriented outdoor event. A picnic basket, blanket and chairs will help to make your experience even more comfortable. Gates open at 4 pm, so please arrive early and enjoy an afternoon in the park.

The Woodbury Summer Pops concert would not be possible without generous support from Secor, Cassidy & McPartland, and co-sponsor the Jewish Federation of Western Connecticut. Additional support comes from our friends at New Morning Market and Cornucopia at Oldfield Bed and Breakfast. The WSO also gratefully acknowledges the support from the municipalities of Southbury and Woodbury who have helped to continue the tradition of the summer pops event for all residents to enjoy.

Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the gate, with $50 Tent Seating also available.   Tickets can be purchased at any one of our ticket outlets: Koenig’s Art Emporium, in Southbury, Woodbury Drug Store and Canfield Corner Pharmacy, both in Woodbury; and Westbury Music in Watertown. You may also purchase tickets by calling the WSO at: 203-574-4283 or online at: www.waterburysymphony.org. In the event of rain, please check our website for any changes in the performance schedule.
