    State Representative Larry B. Butler (D-Waterbury) welcomes the anticipated approval of funding for additional housing units across Connecticut, including Waterbury, when the State Bond Commission meets this Friday.    Rep. Butler, the House chair of the Housing Committee thanked the Governor and the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority (CHFA) for their work in securing a total of $30 million to create 179 additional units of supportive housing.

     “I’m pleased Waterbury has two of the six housing projects selected by the Interagency Committee on Supportive Housing,” said Rep. Butler .  “This was a competitive selection process meaning Waterbury has put the work in to get this award.”

     Under the Permanent Supportive Housing Initiative administered by the (CHFA), a pair of Waterbury supportive housing complexes will receive funding for additional units:
• Francis Xavier Plaza   at 605 Baldwin Street will receive $6,141,000 for 20 additional units
• Begg Commons at 1090 Bank Street will receive $7,618,000 for 76 additional units

     State Representative David Aldarondo (D-Waterbury) welcomed both of these projects to his district.

     “This is very good news for Waterbury and an important investment for our citizens," Rep. Aldarondo said. "Additional units of supportive housing are certainly needed and come at a time when many people are facing a difficult economy. I appreciate the work of everyone who worked to secure this funding for Waterbury.”
