Joey’s Hair Systems Record for HopeCuts
St. Baldrick's Donor, Danielle Christ
On Sunday, May 20, stylists at Joey’s Hair Systems raised over $1,400 for HopeCuts, City of Hope’s Annual Fundraiser in which salons donate 100% of their profits from one day to the Cancer Treatment Centers. This was a record year for Joey’s Hair Salon, which has been a long-time supporter of City of Hope.
"We are beyond ecstatic by the generosity and number of supporters who participated in HopeCuts last Sunday" says Donna Coulson of Joey’s Hair Systems. “Between our clients and our volunteers from the salon, who donated their time for HopeCuts, we are so thrilled to be raising money for such a tremendous cause.”
The salon was also extremely proud to have participated in not only the Locks of Love program, but also shaved a head for St. Baldrick’s, which specifically raises money for childhood cancer research. Client, Danielle Christ of Sacred Heart High School shaved half of her head for St. Baldrick’s and Cheryl Stewart of Prospect, Connecticut, donated her hair to Locks of Love. In addition, Joey’s Hair Systems offered drastically reduced discount haircut rates, raffles, door prizes and light refreshments for its customers.
HopeCuts began in 1995 when one salon in Philadelphia decided to open for business on a Sunday afternoon and donate their profits for the day to City of Hope. Today, HopeCuts events are held in salons in New York, Chicago and beyond.
